Have you ever wondered what the best way to get into the IT industry is?
Should you take a coding/design boot camp? Practice networking like a maniac? Or maybe spice up your LinkedIn profile for it to be as attractive as possible?
Well, all of these work… to some degree. But what if I told you there was a better way?
Let me introduce The Summer Internship Programme at Miquido.
We run this Summer Internship Programme every year, looking for ambitious and driven developers and designers. It’s a great opportunity for every beginner passionate about IT to gather first-hand experience while working at the heart of real-life projects.
We get a lot of questions about the internship, so here are the 10 most frequent ones.
But first…
What’s Miquido all about? 💜
Miquido is not just a software development company – it’s a well-established name in the industry with diverse areas of expertise and passionate professionals. Our custom software development services reach far beyond coding – we take care of the entire life cycle of a product using various tech solutions.
We believe that our employees are the driving force of our company. That’s why we’re looking for new talents to join our team and help us in changing the digital world for the better.
After this introduction, it’s time to get your answers!
Do I have to be a student to apply for an internship? 🎓
Absolutely not. Anybody with the right mindset and basic knowledge about a given technology can be an intern at Miquido.
However, the primary condition is a very good command of English (min. B2 level) to ensure flawless communication.
Another must-have is the eagerness to learn. Curiosity has to be one of your main driving forces – because there will be a lot to take in!
Let’s say you want to become an iOS Developer intern. Well, then basic knowledge of Swift and XCode will be required. A few small projects on Behance or GitHub will be an additional advantage. As a UX/UI designer, in turn, it’s’ nice to have prior experience with the Adobe Suite.
To sum up, your attitude is more important than your age.
Now that you know that you don’t have to be a student to join our Internship Programme, let’s make sure you’re all set for your first big interview!
What does the recruitment process look like during the pandemic? 🤔
Safety is our primary concern, hence the recruitment process is 100% remote these days.
During the interview, expect questions about your experience and the projects you have taken part in. Once again, keep in mind that we want to get to know you as a person and we’re not looking for a long list of achievements – just be yourself!
And don’t be overwhelmed when you see two people across the screen from you: you’ll be interviewed by one of our HR specialists and a tech expert.
A tech expert… But why? 😮
Don’t worry, they don’t bite! Believe me, I had a chance to verify that myself, not so long ago. Someone with a professional background in a given field needs to be present to ensure a more reliable recruitment and feedback process.
With all the formalities out of the way, let’s see what you can expect from the work itself.
Can I work remotely during the internship? 💻
Yes, of course! Every employee has an option to work remotely. So, if you think you have the right conditions, you’re very welcome to do so.
As an intern, you will be provided with the necessary tools: a MacbookPro and a second monitor, to make your work process smoother.
Your experience with Miquido will begin with a detailed onboarding. It can also be taken remotely or you can get through it in a more traditional way – at our office.
What if I want to work from the office? 💼
No problem! Our headquarters are open for our employees and you’re one of us at this point! Just keep in mind that the space functions according to the latest sanitary guidelines. It means that among other restrictions, the total number of in-office employees is limited.
What does working at Miquido look like? 🤓
We care about the well-being of our employees, just as much as we care about our clients’ success. That’s why we want to provide the best possible working experience.
Imagine getting to work and joking around for 30 minutes before you get to your first task. That’s not unusual at Miquido. We call each other “relaxed professionals” – when there’s work to do – we do it, thoroughly and efficiently, but we don’t forget about having fun either. Frequent team-building parties, playing video games in our lobby or just straight-up napping on our couches, that’s all part of Miquidos’ work culture.
Your comfort is more important than arbitrary, strict schedules. As an intern, you will have flexible working hours, just like every other employee. So don’t worry about missing the good old summer fun.
Do you know which project I will be assigned to? 📲
Throughout your internship and after it’s over you will be working for well-known and successful companies across a variety of industries like Healthcare, Fintech, Travel, etc. Keep in mind, that every project team has a unique approach to how they work and we cannot foresee which one you will be assigned to.
What we do know, however, is that no matter what team you will be a part of – it will be awesome. Miquido has easily one of the best work environments I have experienced so far.
This brings us to the next, the most exciting part.
What are the chances that I will be hired after the internship? 🙈
All I can say is that so far, literally 90% of our interns have been promoted to a junior position after the internship.
Interns are hired with their growth in mind, so the right motivation and ambition can get you promoted easily.
After 4 months, your work will be evaluated based on the feedback from your peers and project manager. We want each assessment to be solution-oriented rather than generic and impractical, to leave you with actionable insights about your work.
In other words – you give us valuable work, we give you valuable knowledge.
There’s one extra thing, if you are still not convinced.
What makes the Miquido Summer Internship so special?
Our laid back attitude and result-oriented work process are surely some of the things that separate us from the pack. But there’s more…
At our software development firm, you will be working on significant tasks alongside other software engineers or designers. Important bits and pieces of a project will be at your fingertips, and your work will contribute to the final version of a given digital product.
With great obligations come great rewards, that’s why every intern gets most of the benefits of a full-time employee: MyBenefit platform, private medical care, free in-office English lessons, and much more.
The Summer Internship Programme at our company is a big commitment. It’s not meant for people who want to drift through their days half-heartedly, but rather for those who want to grow and improve, continuously.
You won’t have a lazy summer. That’s for sure!
We’re all friends here – so don’t be afraid and get in touch if you have any more questions!
